Calling all Hearsall Golf Club Members, over 55 years of age, to please read my request for the year ahead.
As I enter my 60th year of age, I feel very privileged to have been chosen to be the Seniors Captain at Hearsall Golf Club for the season 2024 and I would just like to enlighten you all on our Seniors Section, if you don’t already know about it, or just need a reminder of the great things we have going on for the coming year.
The Hearsall Seniors team events will hold 27 match play games in total for 2024, playing 14 at home and the remainder away, with a 2-course meal afterwards, which brings together anyone who may wish to play in pairs, against like-minded individuals from other prestigious clubs around the Midlands in a four-ball competition, normally in teams of 12 per Golf Club. It is a wonderful opportunity to play against the many clubs around this area, throughout the summer. Coupled with these fixtures are fourteen other Hearsall competitions throughout the year, along with an away day with one round of golf (1st July 2024) and an away night with two rounds (date TBC) usually around the early June timeframe at 2 other courses around an hour’s drive away. All these comps being played under the Stapleford scoring system based on your individual Club Handicaps on the day, with winners being placed into two sections: under 70 years and over 70 years, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes in both categories.
All players must be 55 years of age or over and have paid their annual fee to our section to enter all the afore-mentioned events, which the Seniors hold throughout the year Monday-Friday. This small nominal fee goes towards all prize money for the fourteen competitions.
I personally welcome all of you to join again for the 2024 season or those who may wish to give it a go for the first time for a bit of a change to the norm. The teams will be selected very much at random with an equal mix of ages across the spectrum. These matches will appear on the Seniors board in the changing rooms and run from 6th April to 27thSeptember as the year goes on and will be 3-4 weeks in-advance of the fixture being played. Just pop your name on the list and we will notify you accordingly if you have made the team for that fixture. The same applies to the fourteen competitions which you must enter on the IG app with the starting time you wish to play and who you wish to play with on the day.
