I grew up in Coventry and now live in Corby, but Hearsall has always felt like home. I’m widowed, with three daughters and three wonderful grandsons who keep me busy and grounded. Life in retirement has been full, but Hearsall continues to be one of the places
I feel most connected too, both socially and personally.
My link to the club stretches back more than 50 years. I first joined in 1972 as a Junior, following in the footsteps of my mum and older brother. In 1980, my mum married John West, brother of Tony West, and we lived at 62 Stoneleigh Avenue, right beside the 2nd tee, so you could say Hearsall was in my back garden. I threw myself into club
life from the start, captaining the Junior team, leading the Mid-Warwickshire League side, and representing Hearsall at Junior, Colts and Senior County levels.
Although work and family commitments took me away from the club in 1987, I returned in 2022 and quickly became an active member again. Hearsall played such a big part in my younger years, shaping my love of golf, sport and community, and being back has reminded me just how special the club is. I regularly play in competitions, enjoy the camaraderie in the clubhouse, and take real pride in seeing how the club continues to thrive.
Outside of golf, my background is in engineering. After studying at King Henry VIII Grammar School and Coventry University, I spent over 40 years working in the field, including 35 years with Rolls-Royce as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer specialising in Noise and Vibration. My career took me all over the world before I retired from Cummins Generator Technologies in 2024 as their Global Noise and Vibration Specialist.
Now that I’ve got more time to give, I’d love the opportunity to contribute to the club’s
future. Hearsall has given me so many memories and friendships over the years, and I’m
keen to play my part in keeping it the welcoming, well-run club it has always been.
