By the time the majority of you have read this I will have already served a quarter of my term in office. Yes, 3 months have already passed.

This does not mean however that as its “out of season” and noticeably quieter than the rest of the year, I and the rest of the Board and Management Committee have been taking it easy, far from it. The new members of the Management committee have found their feet and are starting to take responsibility in the areas of the club they are assigned to. This structured approach is starting to pay dividends and a number of tasks have already been completed by the new Management Committee members. I would personally like to thank all of the Management Committee members for their hard work so far.

The lady captain Chris Scott and I have been blown away by the generosity of the members of Coventry Hearsall Golf Club and our chosen charity, Dementia UK, is proving a hit amongst those who have already donated kindly during the festive season. As well as the money raised in raffles etc I have also been approached by individual members who have unselfishly donated their blackout and prize money winnings which is testament to the type of members we have and attract.

Boxing Day Classic

On the 26th of December I had a break from my normal family Boxing Day tradition and was pleased to offer my services in supporting the Boxing Day Classic golf competition. This event is always popular and 108 golfers braved the chilly but bright Boxing Day morning weather. The format of the competition was a 4 ball team event Stableford with two scores to count on every hole.
I would like to congratulate all of the prize winners and Nigel Poole for organising both the competition and the blackouts done during the event.

4th on count-back with 80 points were S Smith, J Ryan, C Ridd and G Lord.
3rd with 81 points were P Johnson, S Mumford, W Westall and D Westall.
2nd with 82 points were M Wright, S Alvey, R Bingham and J Harmon.
1st with 83 points winning the Boxing Day Classic 2017 were B Mander, J Brennan, D McLean and D Kavanagh.

New Years Eve

The last social event for 2016 is the New Years Eve Dinner Dance and I would like to remind the gentlemen attending that the dress code for this event is Formal, i.e. Dinner Suit and Black Tie. We will be kicking off the evening with Prosecco on arrival at 7:00pm with the dinner scheduled to start at 7:30pm until late.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2017 and the best of luck on and off the golf course.
