In joining Hearsall Golf Club you will enter into the great traditions of men’s golf, culminating with the annual prize presentation in October where all of the seasons medals, shields and cups are awarded.

Keen golfers can also partake in our winter league competition which is a very popular pairs round robin tournament that is concluded by knock-out games and a very well supported presentation evening get-together and meal.

Coventry Hearsall Ladies’ Section

Here at Coventry Hearsall we have a very active, growing  Ladies Section with over  60 Lady Members, many of whom enthusiastically play on a regular basis. Our ladies are a key part of the club and to support the Ladies section and ensure diversity of opinion, Lady Members serve on our Management and Club Committees and we are represented at Board Level.

The section is headed up by our enthusiastic Lady Captain and her committee, who run a comprehensive competitions programme each year.  Our weekly competitions are held on Wednesdays where the Ladies Committee organises a mix of competitive and social golf.  We run many qualifying competitions and medals each season where ladies compete for our prestigious trophies.  These are interspersed with some fun non-qualifying competitions as well as 9-hole handicap  competitions.  Working ladies are integral to our section and we ensure they play a full part running alternate day competitions for them at weekends with reserved tee times.  The results of these competitions are amalgamated with our weekday competitions to determine the overall positions.  For those who enjoy match play we also arrange a series of friendly matches against other local clubs both home and away. These matches are open to ladies not playing in the league teams.

Our Coventry Hearsall Ladies have a great competitive record in the Warwickshire inter club league and have a history of representation at county, regional and national level.

We are passionate about golf and renowned for supporting and encouraging ladies golf at all levels and are pleased to promote our very popular Ladies Apprentice Scheme, which is a great introduction for Ladies new to golf.  The scheme offers a mentoring programme where established  lady members play with, support and encourage our new apprentices to  help them acquire course knowledge and playing etiquette as well as helping them to become fully involved socially. We run Open Days each year, where ladies can come along and experience the course and Club first hand, these dates are published on the website, so please book your space!

Our social side is always fun and lively. We have a number of Presentation and Supper Evenings, Luncheons, Away Days, Cultural Day outs….the list is endless and we like to offer a wide selection of activities for all our Lady Members to participate in.

We guarantee you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome from the Ladies and if you are interested in joining our Ladies’ Section (which we hope you are!), we would love to hear from you, you contact us via the enquiry form on the membership page.

Seniors Captain 2017

Graham Mather Senior’s Captain

At our last AGM on Tuesday 7th March 2017, it was decided to now allow 55yr old and over to play in our section, which seems to be the norm at most other clubs, so the “Hobos” has now changed to Hearsall Seniors.  At the AGM a Captain, Vice- Captain, Secretary and Treasurer are elected and serve for twelve months. Our current Secretary Bob Hunt has served for a number of years and has said that this will be his last one.

The Hearsall Seniors have a current membership of 40+ players ranging in Handicap from 9 to 28. We have a very busy fixture list this season with 26 Interclub matches on home and away basis. These matches are always played in a friendly manner, followed by drinks and a sit down meal. The majority of our matches are played on Friday mornings teeing off at 8.30, although away games at Lutterworth/Olton/Shirley/Kings Norton are played mid- week.

Mick Foster runs a “ Fiddle” every Tuesday & Thursday at 8.30, so members are never short of the opportunity to play golf in good company with associated banter.

The Inaugural meeting of the then named Hobos was on Tuesday 27th October 1981 and was known as the “ Hearsall Old Boys Over Sixties”. The first matches played go back to 1981 when we played against Kenilworth, Finham, Leamington, and Nuneaton on a home and away basis. Further matches against Olton and Stratford were added in 1984 and Rugby in 1985. A match between the Hobos and the Lady members was instigated also in 1984.

Two other trophies are played for each year which are the Bill Williams Trophy presented by Bill Williams in 1993 and the Memorial Cup presented by Don Dovoll’s family along with £1000 to pay for the installation of the fountain on pathway leading to the 10th tee, and a Memorial Cup. The Memorial Cup is played in memory of members who have passed away in the last year.  There is also a pairs knockout played after all paid up members go into a draw for partners.
