The Summer knockouts are now starting to be played and we have just held our Spring Open, which was a very successful day and enjoyed by all. The winners were Forest of Arden with 88 points, second was Coventry Hearsall with 77 points, third Overstone with 76 points, (on countback) and fourth Kenilworth with 76 points. Nearest the pin was Anne Hawkswood from Coventry Hearsall and Nearest the Line was Sharon Bolus from Nuneaton. Well done to you all.
Good new, we are now able to play in the men’s Stableford Competitions alongside the Alliance. I was the first lady to Play in the 9 Hole Stableford on May 21stwith my husband Mark, making history for the Club as it was the first time in 125 years! I look forward to see more Ladies entering these Competitions.
I was delighted to put a Team in for the Club AM AM on Saturday 25thMay and even more pleased when we won with 92 Points. Congratulations to the team who were Lesley Duff, Jill Pittard and Faye Greaves. It was great to be part of a Saturday Mixed Competition.
Congratulations to Fred V Butler and Margaret Twigger on winning the Millennium Trophy on Monday 6thMay. Ten teams entered and they had glorious weather on the day.
Unfortunately, we had to postpone the Seniors V Ladies Annual Match due to the weather. Hopefully, we will be able to re-arrange this later in the year.
On Sunday 9thJune we hosted the County Girls Stableford Competition, Round 2. Twenty two girls took part in what was a very enjoyable day. It was lovely to see the young girls out there playing. The winner was Holly Elliot, with a total of 37 points. Second was Arianna Virik, who plays at both Kenilworth and Coventry Heasall, with 34 points and third was Hazel Smith from Edgbaston Golf Club with 33 points. Congratulations to them all.
It is the Club’s 125thCelebration weekend starting on Friday 14thJune. There is a Pairs Competition on the Friday with the AM AM on the Saturday. Ladies are able to enter both of these.
Hopefully, the weather will start to pick up soon and we can enjoy our Summer Golfing.
