The full course improvement programme for the winter is now available in the Members Course section of this Web Site.
A tee mat has been installed on the practice area for members to sample and feed back their views to the course committee. This is a modern mat which the club could consider introducing on some tees in the winter to reduce wear and tear. Please give it a try and let us know what you think. Feedback can be direct or via suggestion box.
We are still awaiting a planning decision to site this in the top car park where there is currently a container. When planning permission has been obtained there will be a members meeting arranged to discuss the project in detail and seek members opinion on whether it should go ahead.
Members are advised that we will now be using the bollards to prevent unauthorised access to the top car park. Please ensure the bollards are down before attempting to enter or leave the car park.

Management Meeting Held on 10th October 2011

The following changes to the By-laws were made at the above meeting:

By-law 1.4

Existing wording: “Intoxicating liquor will not be sold to anyone under the age of 18.”

Revised wording: “Persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol on the premises. Suitable photographic identification may be requested from individuals whose age is believed to be questionable.”

New By-law 1.5

“The Management reserve the right to refuse to serve alcohol to intoxicated persons and to escort, off the premises any person causing an offence or disturbance to other members and/or guests.”

Because of the introduction of the above new By-law (1.5) all existing By-law numbering (1.5 to 1.22) will be enhanced by one and become (1.6 – 1.23)

By- law 2.9 (Dogs)

The original wording relating to dogs, as contained in proposed new By-law document issued to the members in early August 2011 was as follows:

By-law 1.22 stated “Dogs are not permitted in the Clubhouse unless it is accompanying a Registered Blind Person.”

By-law 2.9 stated: “No dogs shall be allowed on the Course unless on a lead.”

The changes presented to the AGM on Monday 3rd October 2011were as follows: By-law 1.22 was deleted and By-law 2.9 was identified as:

“Dogs shall not be allowed on the Golf Course, Clubhouse or Clubhouse surrounds unless it is accompanying a Registered Blind Person.”

As agreed at the AGM, the members concerns were placed before the Management Committee for further discussion at the above meeting. The result of which is that By-law 2.9 has been revised to read as follows:

“Dogs (other than Guide Dogs) are only allowed access to the external patio area in front of the Clubhouse. They must be kept on a lead and under direct and safe control at all times. The Club Management reserves the right to ask the owner to remove the dog if it is causing a disturbance to other members and/or guests.”

HEARSALL GOLF CLUB CAPTAINS DRIVE IN 2011

The traditional Captains Drive in was held on Sunday October 9th and was well supported. Despite a poor weather forecast the drive in enjoyed very pleasant playing conditions and scoring was high. The competition (over 9 holes) produced some high scores with the overall winners Chris Scott and Barry Littlewood posting a creditable 24 points
